Oman’s Vision 2020 unveiled in 1995 includes a major emphasis on
economic diversification, development of human resources, improved utilization
of human and natural resources whilst preserving as well as developing the
achievements made in the past three decades of Renaissance. Based on this
framework, the 'National Strategy for Digital Oman & e-Government' was
unveiled on 30th November 2002 to lay the roadmap for the creation of a
Knowledge Society in Oman.
Through eOman, the Information Technology Authority (ITA)
endeavors to provide e-Government services to individuals and businesses in
Oman while establishing knowledge-based industries and creating more job
avenues for Omani youth, facilitating better healthcare and improved education
opportunities, sustaining tourism and social development, as well as attracting
foreign investment.
Inspired by the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin
Said, ITA will continue its tireless efforts to lead the e-Governance
initiative in Oman and build a Knowledge Society.
