FOSSC-17 Oman Kicks Off .. Virtual Center on Free and Open Source Software launched.

The third Edition of the Free and Open Source Software Conference, FOSSC-17 Oman, jointly organized by the Communication and Information Research Center (CIRC) at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), and the Information Technology Authority (ITA) commenced at SQU today.  The main theme of the 2017 event is “FOSS Deployment, Strategies and Practices” which is a continuation of the previous conference efforts and in line with the proposal of the national FOSS strategic deployment plan drafted by SQU and ITA last year.

ITA – Omantel sign to renew Oman Government Network agreement

The Information Technology Authority (ITA) and the Oman Telecommunication Company (OmanTel) have recently signed an agreement to renew the Oman Government Network (OGN) contract. The contract was first signed in July 2006 for the period of five years and then it was renewed in 2011 for other five years.




  

Sas Mobile Apps Development Center feeds the market with Omani talents

ITA & Ministry of Manpower signs agreement to develop work-licensing system

The Information Technology Authority (ITA) and the Ministry of Manpower with Nortal Company signed an agreement to develop work-licensing system. HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, Manpower Minister, signed the agreement with Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of the Information Technology, and Brett Almi, CEO of Nortal group, the company executing the project.




  

ITA Organizes Oman’s 3rd National Cyber Drill

Organized by The Information Technology Authority (ITA), represented by Oman National Cert and in cooperation with the EITU/Arab Regional Cyber Security Center, the third National Cyber Drill started yesterday Sunday at golden tulip Muscat and will continue for 2 days. The drill, which targets more than 115 IT professionals from 28 government entities, is attended by specialists from various national critical sectors including Finance, Telecommunication, Energy, Government, Oil & Gas , Transportation, Aviation and Health amongst others.




  

GCC eGov Executive Committee meets in Oman

Hosted by the Sultanate represented in the Information Technology Authority (ITA), the eighteenth meeting of the GCC eGovernment Executive Committee, started yesterday and it will continue for two days. The meeting is held in Al Bustan Palace Hotel in the presence of some excellences’ heads of the authorities and programs of eGovernment in the GCC countries along with the presence of specialists from the General Secretariat of the Council.

Winners of Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment 2016 were announced yesterday evening in the Award Ceremony held at the Sultan Qaboos University Cultural Centre, Grand Hall, under the auspices of HE Dr. Abdulmunim bin Mansour Al Hasani, Minister of Information, in the presence of some senior officials and representatives from participating government and private institutions vying for the honor to win one of the prestigious Awards.

This evening the Information Technology Authority (ITA) celebrates the final phase of the 5th edition of Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment 2016, in an award ceremony to be held in the Grand Hall of Sultan Qaboos Cultural Centre at SQU, under the patronage of HE Dr. Abdulmunim bin Mansour Al Hasani, Minister of Information. Out of 64 participating projects from 38 government, private and SMEs institutions, only 11 projects will be honored today.
