Information Technology Authority Carries On With Donations Portal Awareness Campaign
01 Aug 2012

Information Technology Authority (ITA) is still carrying on with its Donations Portal Awareness Campaign sponsored by ITA in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs. This Awareness Campaign aims to introduce the services offered by the Portal to the people who wish to donate to the charitable organizations operating in the Sultanate through the Portal website.

The Portal includes 9 charitable organizations, namely: Al Noor Association for the Blind, the National Association for Cancer Awareness, Dar Al Atta Charity, the Environment Society of Oman, the Association for Early Intervention for Children with Special Needs, the Association of the Welfare of Handicapped Children, the Oman Association for the Disabled, and the Oman Hereditary Blood Disorder Association.

The objective of the Awareness Campaign organized by ITA is to employ modern ICT in the service of the society so as to simplify the procedures of donation in favour of the charitable organizations through the “www.onlinedonations.org.om” website. Donation could be carried out in a few simple steps using a Visa Card or a Master Card issued by any local banks starting from one Riyal without deducting any extra charges.

It is noteworthy that the Donations Portal that won the Arab Regional e-Content award in the e-inclusion category, supports many services, including the updating of the figures and statistics relating to the value of donations and number of donators in detail for every charitable organization or overall. Furthermore, the website being under the canopy of ITA is a secured website which ensures the necessary privacy to the donator. More than 500 donations have been made through the Donations Portal since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
