Interview with Talal Sulaiman Al Rahbi

Talal Sulaiman Al Rahbi is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Operations at Information Technology Authority (ITA), Oman. He is taking care of the ITA divisions that implement training programs and strategic awareness in support of  the Digital Oman Strategy and the e-Government initiative, and directs programs and projects concerning development of the IT industry in the Sultanate. Among his responsibilities is managing research work related to surveys, statistics and indicators for ITA.





Sultanate to participate in the 2nd GCC e-government Conference

The Sultanate, represented by the Information Technology Authority (ITA) will take part in the 2nd GCC e-government Conference, which is scheduled to begin in the State of Kuwait on Sunday, 14 November 2010 and will last for three days. During the conference, the Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain will compete for a GCC e-government Award and the Best e-government Exhibition in the GCC countries.





Seminar held to discuss latest trends in Security and Privacy Management

Oman’s National Computer Emergency Readiness Team (OCERT), in association with Gartner Inc., the world's leading information technology research and advisory company, recently held a seminar entitled Latest Trends in Security & Privacy Management, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Muscat. The objective of this seminar is to highlight the latest issues and challenges facing Security, Risk Management, Business Continuity Management and CISO roles.





During Salalah Tourism Festival 2011 .. ITA Continues to Train 920 Citizens on Computer and Internet Use

Within the framework of its plan to qualify and develop the community in the field of information technology, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) is currently implementing a computer and internet training programme in the Governorate of Dhofar.Introduced at the Salalah Khareef Tourism Festival 2011, the project is organized in co-operation with the Governorate's training institutes and the Al Wafaa Center in Wilayat Mirbat, which is offers training specifically for disabled individuals and for the families of disabled individuals.





The Sultanate qualifies for Imagine Cup Competition in New York City , USA

The Sultanate of Oman, represented by a group of university students under the sponsorship of the Information Technology Authority (ITA), will participate in the finals of the Imagine Cup Competition organized by Microsoft in New York, USA from 8 to 13 July 2011.ITA will be lending support to the Omani teams who have qualified for this international competition, which is considered to be the most important student technology competition worldwide.

A woman in her fifties, Sameera Al Kalbani has been visiting the Women Community Knowledge Center (WCKC) at the wilayat of Seeb daily, so as to become computer literate. When we met with her, she was sitting at a computer listening carefully to the Trainer as she was explaining the Word Programme. Every day, Sameera goes to the Center located at the Omani Woman’s Association in Seeb. There she learns computer-related lessons and is trained on how to use the computer.

Nowadays, thanks to some companies and the workers at them, people with special needs can get access to the internet, as well as use different software and applications. Two of these companies have made it to the Oman Exhibition Centre to take a part in the COMEX Exhibition 2011.
