The Sultanate participates today in the 22nd meeting of GCC Transport ministers committee virtually. H.E Eng. Saeed Bin Hamoud Al-Mawali, Minister of transport, communications and IT, represented the Sultanate’s delegation in the meeting accompanied by H.E Salim Bin Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, undersecretary of transport as well a number of officials from the ministry.
Many key issues related to GCC current cooperation were discussed in the meeting, most noted is the establishment of a GCC Railway authority, a study for an anticipated flow of goods and passengers in the project as well the agreement for linking GCC member states with the railway project and the timeframe to implement it.
The discussion then went over the unified conditions and guidelines for granting small marine units piloting license, then over the update regarding GCC port instructions, the development regarding the light load small vessels safety regulation, the unified international land transport system between GCC member states and the general scope for drafting GCC traffic safety guide.
Their excellencies GCC ministers of transport reviewed the efforts exerted to bolster the joint GCC cooperation for post-corona period and the ease of its spillover on GCC transport sector.
Moreover, this session discussed the expansion of the consultancy services regarding smart transport patterns which GCC member states executed to cover all GCC member states, increasing cooperation exchanging knowledge and conducting field visits between the member states in regard to transport sector.
