About Symposium:
The Knowledge Network and Multi-Sector Partnership Symposium is a one-day symposium which will be held on 23 September 2012 at the Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz Carlton Hotel. Aiming to showcase Oman’s experiences in the Community IT Training Program, it is also hoped that the symposium will help to raise awareness about the Community Knowledge Centers (CKC) and Women Community Knowledge Centers (WCKC) and provide a forum in which sustainability challenges and solutions can be discussed. Showcasing the efforts of e.oman towards the development of the community and ICT capacity building is another key objective of the symposium.
Gathering experts from around the globe, the symposium will provide great opportunity for those participating to share their experiences, through presenting the best practices and case studies of various countries’ involvement with telecentres, public places whereupon people can access computers, the internet and other digital technologies.
Focusing on the ways and methods to reduce computer illiteracy and bridge the digital divide, the symposium will further highlight:
-
The corporate/private sector partnership opportunities;
-
The importance of telecentres globally and the services that a telecentre offers, with a special focus on how Oman can achieve the telecentre objectives; and,
-
The need to offer fair and equal life opportunities to persons with disabilities through the use of ICT.
