Transport, communications and information technology... celebrates the graduation of the last batch of the first edition of the Makeen Bootcamps

Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology celebrated the graduation of the third and final cohort of the first edition of the “Makeen” Bootcamps organized by the Ministry and executed by the Cod Academy, where 100 job seekers were graduated in five different tracks: the data science and artificial intelligence Full stack development Mobile App development

Software engineering and cybersecurity.

The Makeen technical Bootcamps have garnered significant interest, with over 2,000 applicants vying for a spot, reflecting the high demand and critical need for advanced technical training. The third batch of the program saw 30 trainees in Full Stack Development and Cybersecurity alone

Significant employment success was noted among the graduates, with 73% of those in the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence track securing jobs, followed by 65% in Software Engineering. The rates stood at 48% for Full Stack Development, 40% for Mobile App Development, and 47% for Cybersecurity, illustrating the impactful linkage between the bootcamps and job market integration.

 

The graduation ceremony began with the Ministry’s speech, delivered by Ahmed bin Salem bin Juma Al Wahaibi, Head of the Training Programs Department at the Future Skills Development Department . , who highlighted the program's successes and the transformative experiences of the graduates. This was complemented by a documentary video showcasing the journey of the Makeen Bootcamps and testimonials from the graduates discussing both the technical and personal growth experienced during the program.

Throughout the “ Makeen” bootcamps, participants engaged in various workshops aimed at enhancing employable skills, including freelance work, CV building, and interview preparation. The curriculum across all tracks was enriched with specialized programs to foster problem-solving skills, programming thinking, and up-to-date knowledge of both Omani and global market technologies and applications. Additionally, the training emphasized personal development skills such as effective communication, teamwork, and self-learning to ensure continuous personal and professional growth.

 

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology plans to expand the scope of the Makeen Bootcamps in its forthcoming second edition. This expansion will include a greater number of participants and the introduction of new technical specializations to keep pace with the evolving demands of the Omani and international labor markets.
