Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology Organizes Startup Ecosystem Community Meetup
As part of its efforts to support the startup ecosystem in the Sultanate of Oman, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology organized the Startup Ecosystem Community Meetup. The event was attended by startups, interested individuals, investors, and supporting entities. It aimed to introduce the Oman Startup Hub platform (www.omanstartuphub.om) and its features, encourage startups to register and update their information, and connect them with relevant stakeholders.
The event included an introductory presentation on the platform, highlighting its key milestones and development journey. The presentation showcased the platform’s features and advantages, which help support startups and connect them to business opportunities. The Oman Startup Hub, also known as “Osh,” serves as a space that connects startups in the Sultanate with supporting entities, investors, consultants, and entrepreneurs, facilitating communication, collaboration, and knowledge exchange within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Additionally, the platform offers supporters and stakeholders a comprehensive view of the ecosystem, including startups, their needs, and a schedule of relevant events and activities.
The platform’s objectives include developing the business ecosystem in Oman, connecting startups with supporting entities, promoting these startups, and unifying efforts and initiatives for enhancing the startup ecosystem. To date, the platform hosts more than 170 registered startups, over 85 investment rounds, 54 mentors, and more than 47 supporting entities.
It is worth noting that the Oman Startup Hub platform was initially launched in 2018 by one of the subsidiaries of the Oman Investment Authority (previously IDO). Currently, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology oversees the platform. The Ministry has contracted Al Jabr MENA to relaunch and enhance the platform’s content, while the company that originally developed the platform, Icoms, continues to provide technical and IT support services.
