Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology Launches the Second Edition of Makeen

April 15, 2025

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology has launched the second edition of the “Makeen” Bootcamps at the Programming Academy, with the participation of 40 trainees divided into two main tracks: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Full-Stack Web Development. Each track includes 20 trainees. The Makeen Bootcamp training program aims to equip young national talents with modern technical skills through an intensive 16-week academic training, followed by an 8-week practical training in both public and private sector institutions. This approach enhances the trainees’ opportunities to gain real-world experience that qualifies them to join the labor market.

Interactive Sessions

The first day of the bootcamp featured introductory activities among the trainees, interactive sessions to foster team spirit and encourage collaborative work, along with an overview of the general program and the projects the participants will work on during the course of the bootcamp. The trainees were also introduced to the Academy’s team and the working environment.

200 Beneficiaries

The current cohort was selected from over 1,040 job seekers who underwent a series of evaluations and personal interviews as part of a meticulous selection process designed to identify the most qualified candidates to benefit from the program.

The second edition of the Makeen Bootcamps aims to train 200 participants over three cohorts throughout 2025. Participants will receive a monthly financial grant of OMR 200, in addition to laptop computers, contributing to the provision of a comprehensive training environment that facilitates learning and practical application.

Expansion Plan to Include Sohar, Sur, and Salalah

As part of the program’s geographic expansion plan, the second cohort of the bootcamp will be launched in the Wilayat of Sohar on April 20, focusing on System Engineering and Network Security Engineering tracks. Subsequent cohorts will be held in the Wilayats of Sur and Salalah, in line with the Ministry’s efforts to empower Omani youth across the Sultanate’s governorates and to promote innovation and the digital economy in alignment with the national digital transformation agenda
